Description
Copovidone is a versatile binder and film-former widely used in tablet formulations. This white to off-white, free-flowing powder dissolves easily in both water and alcohol, making it ideal for various drug formulations, including oral, topical, and ophthalmic preparations.
As a binder, Copovidone enhances the mechanical strength and stability of tablets and granules. It provides strong adhesion and cohesion, improving the compressibility and solubility of active ingredients, which supports higher loading and rapid release profiles.
As a film-former, Copovidone creates clear, glossy, and flexible coatings, enhancing the appearance, swallowability, and shelf life of tablets. It’s also effective in taste masking and acts as a pore-former in controlled-release formulations.
